MIL-C-82629(OS)
Mk6 Mod 0. The prepared unit shall be placed in a test chamber and subjected to a temperature
of +233 degrees F ±5°F (50°±3°C) for not less than 2 hours, During this 2-hour period the tests
of 4.5.5.2 and 4.5.5.3 shall be performed.
(a) After 2 hours, the test units shall be subjected to five 24-hour cycles of not less than
16 hours at +122 degrees F ±5°F (50°±3°C) and 8 hours at +86 degrees F ±5°F (30°±3°C). The
relative humidity shall be maintained constant at not less than 95 percent during the five cycles.
During each cycle and while at +122 degrees F (50°C) the tests of 4.5.5.2 and 4.5.5,3 shall be
performed.
(b) Upon completion of five cycles, the temperature
shall be maintained at +122 degrees F ±5°F
0
(50 ±3°C) for not less than 8 hours. During the 8-hour
period, the relative humidity shall be 50
±5 percent for the first 2 hours, 95 percent during the
next 4 hours, and 40 percent during the
remaining time. At 30-minute intervals ±5 minutes, the
test of 4.5.5,3 shall be performed.
NOTE : The transitions between temperatures shall be accomplished within the 8-hour period so
that the time at the high temperature is approximately 16 hours. Each transition shall not
exceed 1 1/2 hours. The relative humidity need not be controlled during the transition periods.
4.5.6.7 Temperature and humidity storage mode). The torpedo control cable assembly, in the
packaged condition , shall be subjected to a 28-day temperature/humidity test. The total test is
made up of two 14-day temperature and humidity cycles. The term "chamber temperature," as used
in this test, refers to the temperature of the air immediately surrounding the equipment, Cham-
ber temperature shall be changed (1) by varying the temperature of a single chamber, or (2) by
moving the test specimen from one constant temperature chamber to another, The fluctuations from
all specified temperatures shall not exceed 10 degrees F (5.5°C). The following test sequence
is based on a start at 0800 Monday, Regardless of the actual day and time the test is initiated,
there shall be no deviation from the test sequence as prescribed,
(a) At 0800 Monday place the test specimen in a chamber which has been maintained at -65
degrees F (-54°C) for at least 2 hours immediately prior to 0800 (humidity not controlled).
(b) At 1600 Monday the chamber temperature shall be changed to +160 degrees F (71°C) and
95 +3 -0 percent humidity. The chamber temperature shall be adjusted to reach 160 degrees
F (71°C) and 95 percent humidity not later than 1800.
(c) The test specimens shall be held under these conditions until 0800 Tuesday, at which
time the temperature decrease shall begin. The rate of decrease of chamber temperature shall
be equal to or greater than 35 degrees F (19°C) per hour for at least 2 1/2 hours. Thus, at
1030, the temperature of the air surrounding the test specimens shall be +70 degrees F (21°C)
or lower. The chamber temperature shall reach -65 degrees F (-54°C) no later than 1400 and
this temperature shall be held until 1600.
(d) At 1600 Tuesday the chamber temperature shall be changed to +160 degrees F (71°C) and
95 +3 -O percent humidity as rapidly as practicable (not later than 1800) and held until 0800
Wednesday.
(e) On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday the operations performed on Tuesday shall be repeated.
(f) The chamber temperature shall be raised to +160 degrees F (71°C) and 95 percent humidity
on Friday evening and shall be so maintained until 0800 Monday.
(g) At 0800 Monday the sequence of operations described above for Tuesday of the first week
shall be followed and shall be repeated daily until Friday of the second week.
(h) On Friday, the chamber temperature shall be reduced to -65 degrees F (-54°C), and this
temperature shall be maintained until 0800 Monday of the third week. The cycle will be complete
at 0800 Monday.
