3.10 Workmanship. The cable connectors furnished to this specification
shall be constructed and finished in a manner to assure full compliance
with all requirements of this specification and applicable NAVORD drawings.
Particular attention shall be paid to neatness, damage to O-ring seals,
and freedom from burrs and sharp edges. The standards of workmanship exhib-
ited in any approved preproduction sample, subject to any qualifications
stated in the Government's notice of approval, shall be determinative of
the requirements of the contract relative to workmanship insofar as not
specifically covered by applicable specifications.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the
contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the perform-
ance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as other-
wise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or
any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection require-
ments specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Govern-
ment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the
specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies
and services conform to prescribed requirements.
NOTE: Mating connectors and cables required
for sampling inspections will be furnished
by the procuring activity.
4.2 Sampling
4.2.1 Preproduction. Four Mk 42 Mod 1 cable connectors shall be supplied
by the contractor. The connectors shall be manufactured using the same
procedures and methods and at the same plant location proposed by contractor
for the execution of the contract. The sample shall be submitted to the
procuring activity for purpose of determining compliance with the require-
ments of the contract or order and the applicable specifications. Further
production of the item by the contractor prior to the approval of the pro-
curing activity or completion of inspection and test on the preproduction
sample shall be at the contractor's risk. Accepted preproduction samples
will become the property of the procuring activity and will be included in
the number of connectors called for in the contract or order.
4.2.2 Acceptance. The acceptance tests specified herein shall be con-
ducted on each connector.
4.3 Inspection
4.3.1 Preproduction testing and acceptance testing. Preproduction testing
and acceptance testing shall consist of the inspections and tests of 4.4.1
and 4.4.2 on the samples selected under 4.2.1 and 4.2.2, as applicable.
