3.6,2 Temperature and humidity. The cable sheath, conductor insulation, and conductors
shall show no evidence of failure when completed cables are subjected to the temperature and
humidity test of 4.5.10.3.
3.6.3 Temperature and humidity (storage mode). The cable sheath, conductor insulation,
and conductors shall show no evidence of failure when completed cables are subjected to the
temperature and humidity (storage mode) test of 4.5.10,4.
3.6.4 Tropical environment. The cable sheath, conductor insulation, and conductors shall
show no evidence of being fungus nutrients when the completed cable is exposed for 28 days
to 86° F (30° C), 90 percent relative humidity, and fungus.
3.7 Workmanship. The workmanship shall be first-class in every respect and uniform through-
out each lot of cable offered for delivery. The standards of workmanship exhibited in any
approved preproduction sample, subject to any qualification stated in the Government's notice
of approval, shall be determinative of the requirements relative to workmanship insofar as
not specifically covered by applicable specifications.
4 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase
order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as
specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may
use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection require-
ments specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the
right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such Inspections
are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.

4.3.1 Lot.

4.3.2 Number of samples
4.3.2.1 Preproduction. Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract or order
(see 6.2), a 100-foot (30-metre) preproduction sample of cable shall be manufactured by the
contractor. The cable shall be manufactured using the same procedures and methods and at
the same plant location proposed by the contractor for the execution of the contract. The
sample shall be tested for purposes of determining compliance with the requirements of the
contract or order and the applicable specifications. Further production of the item by the
contractor prior to approval of the procuring activity or completion of inspection and tests
on the preproduction sample shall be at the contractor's risk.
4.3.2.2 Lot acceptance. Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract or order
(see 6.2), sampling for lot acceptance shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-C-915.
4.4 Inspection and tests,
4.4.1 Test conditions. Unless otherwise specified, tests and examinations required by
this specification shall be conducted under any combination of conditions within the ranges
